Portland Spaces Magazine presents
the first Root Awards:
Portland Design from the Ground Up
Enter today! Architects, builders,
interior designers, landscape designers, furniture makers,
craftspeople, and innovators who work in greater
metropolitan Portland are invited to submit their best work
of the last three years in more than 20 categories, ranging
from houses and individual rooms to commercial offices and
restaurant interiors. A jury of nationally renowned design
and building professionals will judge the entries. Portland
Spaces will honor the winners at a party and feature them in
the November/December 2008 issue. Submissions must be
received by July 14, 2008.

Monthly Meetings:
Regular ANLD monthly meetings are held the first Monday
of every month at 7 PM at the Tigard
Community Friends Church, 15800 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Note: Meetings run from September through May, while special
summer programs and events begin in June and run through August.

Iseli Nursery Tour--Wed.,
June 9, 10:00-12:00
ANLD members are invited to tour
Iseli
Nursery on June 9, 10-12 noon. This is a great follow-up to
Fran Sharp's talk and slideshow at our February meeting.
Located in Boring, OR, Iseli Nursery is a world-renown
grower of dwarf conifers and Japanese Maples. This summer,
they are renovating and expanding some of their beautiful
display gardens--so if you've been there before, it will be
a different experience.
RSVP by Sun evening, July 6, to Judy Kokesh
(jkokesh@comcast.net) if you are planning to join the
group.
Iseli Nursery is located at
30590 Kelso Rd., Boring, OR.
If you wish to carpool from the
Tigard area, meet at the Friends Church at 9:15am. If you
wish to carpool from NE Portland, contact Judy Kokesh.
Lunch suggestions include
the deli at New Seasons in Boring and Paola's Corner, 28300
SE Hwy 212, also in Boring. Other nearby places of interest
include:

Casa, 19995 Hwy 212, Boring--a wide variety of
decorative pots and garden items.

ANLD garden tour:
Central Coast Gardening &
Landscaping Expo,
Newport Oregon
Saturday June 28th
9:00
a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Newport
Middle School. The Expo will feature
twelve seminars with outstanding
gardening and landscaping experts
from all over Oregon. In addition,
over 60 vendors will be selling
plants, garden art, landscaping
materials and services, garden
furniture, tools and much more. It
is a fundraiser for

A Group of ANLD members designed a
garden to showcase new plant introductions for 2008 at the Oregon
Association of Nurseries Farwest Show. The garden did a great job of
showcasing the new plant varieties plus showed off ANLD's talents to a
wide range of green industry professionals.
